Words of Welcome

Welcome to the Blog of the Catholic Parish of Launceston. Our parish community was inaugurated on the First Sunday of Advent in 2002. We are a relatively new parish, being formed from three much older parish communities in the Greater Launceston Area. The first parish and church (St Joseph’s near the present Church of the Apostles) in Launceston date back to 1838. Parish communities were established also at Invermay in 1932 and Newstead in 1948. Theses communities now form the one parish of Launceston.

People and priests strive to grow together in faith through our worship of God and service of each other and the wider community. Families are prepared for Baptism, Reconciliation, Confirmation, Eucharist and Marriage through parish-based programmes, which seek to provide a welcome, and a deepening of faith for all who enquire.

Hopefully, this Blog will provide people with information about our parish life and activities. It will also be a way in which people can make contact with and become involved in our community of faith.

You are very welcome as part of our parish family!
